Summer ’26: New Beginnings

Well, Homies, the time has finally come: Summer ’26 is here. I would be remiss not to begin the first Council Newsletter with an acknowledgement of those who will not be with us in Brookline this summer.

Finn McMillan, We wish you the best of luck in Seattle. Your career has blossomed in a matter of days, but We know this success didn’t come from nothing. It came from countless nights of hard work and undying discipline. For that, We applaud you.

Jack Bryan, We wish you the best of luck in New York City. We know you’re going to have a great time with those you love, but we’ll still miss you dearly. We hope you’ll come to visit us one of these days. Perds-toi un peu, my dear friend: get lost a little.

Tobias Jehn, you are an enigma. You are stronger than most and loved by all. You are so beautiful, and we, the Council, love you for that. We wish you the best of summers in Hanover. Stay golden.

Jamie Evarts, you are such a joy to be around. Your loss will be felt severely. We, the Council, acknowledge you as more than an Oaf—you are a man. An irresistible, intelligent, devoted, and mature man. Godspeed, you good soul.

So far, Summer ’26 has been eventful. Links are aplenty, and romances are sprouting all around us. Summer ’26, my friends and dearest companions, is like a plant, you see. Water it and treat it with care, and it will grow into something beautiful. A plant with an abundance of sunlight and water stretches towards the sky, triumphant in its glory. It smiles at you when you pass by, its scent beckoning you in with an aromatic embrace. Ignore the plant, though, and it will shrivel up. Completely disregard it, and you’ll find a dead creature atop the hot pavement. A rose killed by neglect is still a rose; however, it is beyond saving, and time will ensure that its leaves fall off, its petals lose their color, and its stem disintegrates into a pitiful mass of nothingness.

Thus, as the days continue to pass us by inevitably, we must not lose sight of our one common goal: to make Summer ’26 the best it can be. The Council promises you that it will always do its due diligence in fulfilling this objective, but We cannot succeed without your help. We need your enthusiasm, your participation, and your presence. We pray you heed our cries, and We thank you for reading this inaugural newsletter.

Most Sincerely,
The Council.
